The 20th International Children’s Film Festival of India (ICFFI) began on November 8, 2017 at Shilpa Kala Vedika in Hyderabad with the screening of School Chalega. The festival would conclude on Children’s Day on November 14, 2017. The ICFFI is organized by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in association with Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) and Government of Telangana.

India and World Bank signed a financing agreement for IBRD loan of US $119 million dollar for the “Odisha Higher Education Programme for Excellence & Equity (OHEPEE) Project” on November 7, 2017. The objective of the project is to improve the quality of and students’ equitable access to selected institutions and enhance governance of the higher education system in Odisha.

Strike bowler Mitchell Starc of Australia became the first man to take two hat-tricks in the same first-class game in Australia on November 7, 2017. The left-arm pacer also became only the eighth player in first-class cricket history – and the first in 39 years – to achieve the feat. Australian leg-spinner Jimmy Matthews remains the only player to take two hat-tricks in a Test match after he did it against South Africa in Manchester in 1912.

During the ongoing 23rd Conference of Parties (COP) in Bonn, Germany, Syria on November 7, 2017 announced that it is preparing to join the Paris climate accord. This was stated by Syrian Deputy Environment Minister Wadah Katmawi. The Paris Climate Accord was signed during COP-21 on 12 December 2015 and until October 2017 Syria and Nicaragua were the only non-signatory nations. Nicaragua signed in October 2017.

Indian cricket team led by Captain Virat Kohli defeated visiting New Zealand in the rain-delayed Third T20 match in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala by six runs to clinch the T20 Series 2-1. This is India’s first T20 series win against New Zealand. Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged Man of the Match and Man of the Series for his fine performance during the series.

Public sector undertaking Coal India Limited (CIL) has launched the ‘Grahak Sadak Koyla Vitaran App’ aimed at benefitting customers of the company that are being supplied coal by road. The app will allow users to monitor, whether the despatches are made on the fair principle of ‘First in First Out’ and keeps track of all the activities from issuance of sale order to physical delivery of coal by road.
