Indian sporting legend M.C. Mary Kom clinched historic fifth gold medal at the ASBC Asian Confederation women’s boxing championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Mary Kom’s previous gold medals had come in 2003, 2005, 2010 and 2012. While Mary Kom won the gold in 48-kg flyweight category, another Indian woman Sonia Lather settled for Silver in 57 kg featherweight category. In all, India finished the tournament with 7 medals (1 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze).

Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, has been included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for its rich musical tradition. Other Indian cities to feature in the list are Jaipur and Varanasi.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) signed an Institutional agreement with Anna University to establish India’s second Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC). India’s first TISC was set up at Patent Information Centre, Punjab. The Centre will be set up at the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR), Anna University, Chennai, under the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) TISC program.

The Bombay High Court constituted a two-member committee to look into the repair and maintenance of roads in Maharashtra. The committee will comprise of justices K R Sriram and G S Kulkarni of the High Court.
